ScandiDerma is a company involved in all aspects of the cosmeceutical value chain with a focus on arctic biotechnology. Our core activity is to develop new ingredients for dermal use based on arctic resources through a close collaboration with research institutions in the arctic region.

We have first-hand market experience with our own high-end cosmeceutical brand Skin Science that utilizes ingredients derived from marine biotechnology (Spermine, Zonaze-X, Lex, Omega-Tri).


Today we announced a collaboration with the UK company Epistem Ltd that aims to develop a new living skin equivalent testing model for testing inflammatory responses.You can read the press release at Marketwatch

ScandiDerma has a new employee as from the 20th of August 2012.

Ragnhild Dragøy Whitaker will be working as a researcher in ScandiDerma's Tromsø office with the aim of identifying bioactive compounds through bioprospecting of the rich arctic marine environment. Ragnhild holds a PhD in bioanalytical chemistry from Tufts University where she worked on developing single cell methods for analysis of mammalian cell receptor activation and pathways. Upon completing her PhD, Ragnhild has worked on nanodelivery systems for genes and drugs as a postdoctoral researcher both at Boston University and at the University of Tromsø.

We are looking forward to welcoming Ragnhild to our team!

ScandiDerma has been given a grant from the program MABIT to set up in-vitro test systems with Marbio in Tromsø to test dermatological indications. The project will run for 1 year (2012-2013).
